Vintera Snowflake Free Crochet Pattern + Video Tutorial
Welcome to the first part of my 2025 crochet snowflake pattern collection! This cutie is small, but it works up fast and will be the perfect way to start off the snowflake crocheting marathon. It’s a quick make for experienced crocheters and a fun project for ambitious beginners.
The 2025 snowflake collection will be published in 7 parts for 7 consecutive Thursdays in October, November and December. Each free snowflake design is unique, but they work great with other Christmas ornaments from my library. See the schedule below.

ROUND 1
12 sc into the loop, sl st to close the round.
ROUND 2
5 ch, *1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc, 2 ch* x 5, 1 dc, 1 ch, 1 sl st into the 3rd chain stitch.
ROUND 3
8 ch, 1 tr into the dc of the previous round, *3 ch, 1 tr in the next dc, 5 ch, 1 tr in the next dc* x 6, 3 ch, 1 sl st into the 3rd chain.
ROUND 4
*10 ch, 1 sl st into the tr of the previous round, (2 sc, 3 ch, 2 sc) all into the small ch-sp, 1 sl st into the nearest tr* x 6
ROUND 5
*(7 sc, 3 ch, 7 sc) all into the big ch-sp, 1 sl st into the sl st of the previous round, 4 ch, 1 dc in the small ch-sp between the single crochets, 1 picot, 4 ch, 1 sl st in the next dc of the previous round* x 6. Note: The picot consists of 3 ch and a sl st into its base that turns the chain into a small loop. In this case, go through the top part of the double crochet you just did; otherwise, it will lean too much to the side.
Your last slip stitch is your finishing stitch. Cut the yarn and weave in ends, or add a hanging loop by crocheting a chain of your desired length and slip-stitching it to the base.
Block and stiffen your snowflake. Remember to pin every arm of the snowflake and every picot in place to achieve a regular and even look.
